Football teams were scarce in Birmingham at that time, and in their first match against Aston Brook St Mary's Rugby they played one half soccer and one half rugby! Aston Villa have won the league on 7 occasions 1894, 1896, 1897, 1899, 1900, 1910, 1981. They have won the F.A Cup on 7 occasions 1887, 1895, 1897, 1905, 1913, 1920 and 1957. In Europe, Villa have won the European Cup in 1982 and the European Super Cup the following year. Aston Villa are one of only three clubs to be founder members of both the Football League in 1888 and the Premiership in 1992. The other two teams are Blackburn and Everton.
