Chelsea
HistoryIf Fulham had not rejected the offer to rent Stamford Bridge from it's owner H.A Mears in 1905, Chelsea may never have exited. Mr Mears was determined to transform Stamford Bridge into a football stadium rather than selling it to the Great Western railway. Frederick Parker persuaded Mears of the financial advantages of developing a major sporting venue. Chelsea Football club were formed in 1905 and gained admission to the Second Division of the Football League after being denied admission to the Southern League. Chelsea have won the league once back in 1955. They have had FA Cup success on three occasions 1970, 1997 and 2000. In Europe they have won the European Cup Winners Cup twice in 1971 and 1998.
