I watched the Newcastle – West Ham game on Sky last night, and whilst it was an impressive display by Newcastle, it wasn’t anything unexpected. They were good value for the win and I was pleased for Lua Lua, he found it difficult when he first came to the club, but he’s settled in well and has taken full advantage of Craig Bellamy’s injury. I don’t know what’ll happen when Beller’s comes back, and when Carl Cort gets himself fit, but he’s taken his chance well and can’t do any more than that!

Similarly to the situation at Pride Park, Newcastle fans are expecting a lot from this season. It’s going to be tough, and whilst the squad has been improved, so have those of Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd. In addition to that, I don’t see Chelsea and especially Leeds not improving. As for the Champions League, I think Newcastle can do well - but much depends on the draw.
