With a testing away game at Cleethorpes, weíll do well to progress to the second round of the FA Cup. I made my QPR debut some four weeks ago against Grimsby, and although we played well and won it 1-0, they were always in with a chance. This time weíre playing them without a number of first team regulars Ė Richard Edghill, Danny Shittu, Marc Bircham, and myself. Iíll say this though, we havenít got a massive squad, but the twenty lads we do have can all play. Looking back at Derby we were forced to throw in quite a number of kids Ė that wonít happen here.
Iíd love the team to progress in the Cup, thereís always a bit of magic when each round of the cup is drawn and if we can get into the third round and draw say Newcastle, Arsenal, Liverpool or Man Utd Iíd be delighted.
Itís tempting to come back as soon as possible after injury, but as I found out last Tuesday, sometimes itís better to play safe. I had to come off after five minutes against Dagenham and Redbridge, the hamstring just tightened up. Itís not serious though and I was able to run and stride out in training today, missing the game is more a precaution than anything else. We have a derby game against Brentford on Tuesday and theyíve had some cracking results and some poor oneís as well, so weíll have to keep our focus. If selected Iíll be up against their tricky winger Stephen Hunt, heís scored a few goals this season so Iíll be in for an interesting game. I see he's also got a website so Iíll have to remember to take a look to see what heís thinking!!
