Goalkeeper Jason Brown faces a battle to regain his place in the Gillingham side following Steve Banks' clean sheet against Preston at the weekend.

Banks, who left Gillingham in 1995, re-signed for the club last week and Gills player-boss Andy Hessenthaler told BBC Radio Kent: "Number one at the moment is Steve Banks, because he's playing.

"There's competition, but whoever's in the team has to do well and stay in the team, and Banks was outstanding."

He added: "Banks has got the shirt and Jason Brown and Bert Bossu have got to fight for that shirt."

Comment from Jason to follow...
