Rumours but nothing more
Dundee United - a respectable side

I’m on my way up to Newcastle as I update the website – hopefully the match will be on but it seems the bad weather forecast for tomorrow has come a day early! There’s been a few rumours concerning clubs being interested in me, but as yet, nothing has materialised. The fact remains that both Davey Weir and Dave Unsworth are now injured, Joseph Yobo is missing for the next month as he’s in Tunisia with the African Nations Cup, so any interest may come to nothing as Everton may want me as cover.

I want first team football, and whether that’s with Stoke, Walsall, or Dundee United, I’m sure I’d benefit more than playing for Everton reserves. If a loan deal could be sorted out I’d be happy – this would give both parties a chance to take a look at each other and assess whether a permanent move would be a good idea. Jamie McFadden had mentioned that he’d heard about the Dundee United interest. He said that they’re only one or two players away from being a decent side – and I’m certainly interested in playing in the Scottish Premier League. But at the end of the day it’s not as simply as that, and if Everton want me to stay, that’s what I’ll do.

The following article appeared in the Daily Record on the 23rd January, but as I say, I’ve heard nothing from any club…

DUNDEE UNITED boss Ian McCall is chasing Everton centre-back Peter Clarke.

McCall has been keeping tabs on the former England Youth skipper for some time and is ready to table a bid. The Tannadice gaffer is a close friend of Toffees boss David Moyes and has made regular checks on Clarke.

McCall said: ''We have made a few enquiries about the player and would like him on board. ''However, one or two things have yet to be sorted out so it is by no means certain a deal will be done.''

The manager's interest in luring Robbie Winters back to United appears to have waned despite the fact Trinidad and Tobago hitman Collin Samuel will join up with his national Olympic squad after Sunday's Dundee derby.
