The return of the funky chicken!
Training during my Bolton days

It's been sometime coming, but I certainly enjoyed my goal against City last Sunday. Although I've scored a few for the club, it felt as good as any. It's actually my third goal since returning from Bolton, but it's the first in two seasons and atleast my boys have now seen me score for Newcastle. When it went in I thought it might be the winner, but with City equalising and then Bellers scoring in the last minute it was far from the last goal of the game. Kevin Keegan didn't enjoy it, but I guess everyone in black and white did!

We went though against Norwich on Wednesday night and now face a very tough game at home to Chelsea. If we are to win this cup, then we need to beat teams such as Chelsea and in this respect, getting a home draw is all we can ask for. Graeme Souness explained to Andy O'Brien and I why we weren't playing aginst Norwich and both of us understood his decision. Games are coming thick and fast and with both Titus and Ronnie being fit, it was an ideal opportunity to give them first team action. Personally speaking I wanted to play, but I have to be honest and say that if I'd been Graeme Souness I'd have taken the same decision.

We now travel to the Reebok on Sunday and face a Bolton side looking stronger than they've done in decades and making a definite improvement as each season passes. Last season we lost to a very lucky goal - but to be fair we struggled to put them under any sort of pressure. The previous season we also lost in a game that finished 4-3 - we have a few of them don't we - and before that we turned them over 4-0. Along with Everton, Bolton occupy the positions in the league that would lead to European football next season. That's a fantastic acheivement and if they can stay there it would be an incredible season for them. Although I have agreat deal of respect for Bolton - I genuinely enjoyed my time down there - we'll be looking to spoil their party. We look at the table and feel we should be occupying those places. It's up to us to prove that our expectations are reasonable and the best way to do so is to get a result.
