Coventry City are to renew their interest in Brentford winger Stephen Hunt after the former Republic of Ireland under-21 international impressed for the Bees in their last two outings.

Hunt has struggled to overcome a groin injury during the early part of the season but has now fully recovered and came back into the side for the clash with Bournemouth last Saturday week.

The Waterford native spent time on trial with Coventry earlier in the season but was not fully fit and returned to Brentford having failed to secure a deal with the Sky Blues.

But now City manager Peter Reid has requested a video of Hunt’s display against Bournemouth that saw the 23-year-old earn the man-of-the-match award.

Hunt could well link up with fellow Irish men Graham Barrett, Michael Doyle and Steve Staunton at Highfield Road, if Reid decides to pursue his interest in the midfielder once again.

The 23-year-old has been at Griffin Park since July 2001 and has made over 150 appearances for the club, although Bees’ manager Martin Allen seems to have left Hunt out of his long term plans.
