Last minute lapses - 03/09/2004

We had our first win of the season on Bank Holiday Monday when we beat Macclesfield 2-1. It was good to get the win. I came on as a sub and did okay. I’ve been on the bench in the last few games and not been used so it was good to get out there and play.

The game prior to that was against Bristol Rovers and we were unlucky to come away with nothing. Bristol Rovers took the lead but then we managed to equalise before they took all 3 points with a last minute goal.

We’ve had a few last minute goals scored against us recently, against West Ham in the Carling Cup we let in a goal in the 90th minute. We lost that 2-0 after West Ham got the lead and sat back. I think the 2-0 score line was a bit harsh actually, especially as we’d had a few chances, but we weren’t able to put them away.

The game before that - against Cambridge - was a nil all draw. We enjoyed most of the possession but were unable to create any openings and again I was a sub. It’s frustrating when you’re fully fit and not playing, but that’s up to the manager.

We face Rusden and Diamonds next and as we’ve picked up in form recently, I'm confident we'll get something from the game.

Well, I’m still in shock about Michael Owen going to Madrid, I think that the Rooney move is good for everyone really. I mean Everton need the money to strengthen their squad and Manchester United haven’t had a brilliant start to their season, they’re already a few points behind Arsenal and Chelsea. But I think Rio Ferdinand should be playing again fairly soon so that should help. And Southampton’s new manager could very well be Clive Woodward! They haven’t denied the rumours have they?
