Before Ant jets off on a well earned break to the Domican Republic, Official Player Sites asked a few questions to the winner of five 'player of the year' awards...

1 - Who is your personal 'player of the season'?

For me it's Craig Ireland, he's one of the many players released by the club but that doesn't reflect how well he did for us this season. He deserves to find a decent club and I wish him all the best.

2 - Who is your 'young player of the season'?

Two spring to mind, Danny Nardiello who was on-loan from Man Utd, and Neil Austin. If pushed I'd go for Neil Austin and if he can continue this season's form, he'll do more than alright.

3 - Best game of the season?

Looking back it has to be the derby game against Sheff Wed at home in December. Oakwell was buzzing that day and I scored from a volley that I'll never forget.

4 - Best goal?

Not surprisingly, the volley against Wednesday.

5 - Worst game?

Derby games are always important, so it wasn't the best of days when Wednesday beat us 2-1 in the LDV Trophy.

6 - Best ground/atmosphere visited?

Oakwell in that 1-1 draw against Wednesday, 24,000 fans never sounded so loud.

7 - Hopes for next season?

At the moment there are big changes happening at Barnsley and with all the players released, I think at present we only have eight players on the books. The Gaffer and Chairman will no doubt be bringing in their own players during the summer. The league table doesn't show that we had our moments last season and up until Christmas we were looking good for atleast the play-off''s. I've heard that there'll be some real quality coming to Barnsley and although I'll miss alot of friends who are moving on, I'm looking forward to the start of pre-season in what I hope and think will be a good year for the club. If we continue to play good football - and have bigger and better squad - then we have to be aiming at promotion.

8 - Any message for the fans?

Yes, I won five 'Player of the Year' awards...so the brown envelopes are in the post! Seriously though, thank you very much to everyone who voted for me, it means a great deal to me - especially being a local lad. My mam's got all the trophy's on her mantlepeice and she's as proud as me. All I can say is that I'll be doing my best to win them again next year, but more important than personal awards, I just hope I can contribute to the club winning promotion.

Cheers,

Ant
