Sam's the man
He deserves credit

Sunday’s game against Newcastle promised to be a more difficult game that it actually was. Newcastle were poor and we played well enough to secure three massive points.

With the run of five defeats on the bounce, the 1-0 win was incredibly welcome and lifts a great deal of pressure from the club. After playing well all season and not having to worry about relegation, most fans were beginning to wonder. It’s becoming quite normal for a team to slip from mid-table into the relegation battle and we were praying it wouldn’t be us. But these points really do lift us, and you just can’t see us being caught.

As ever Sam had the team well organised and it was a spirited performance that saw us through a first half when Newcastle had their chances. No one seems to want the fourth Champions League spot!! Liverpool only drew with Leicester and Newcastle looked nothing special. Their second half performance was terrible and it’s no good blaming Europe. If you run down their squad and compare them to our players, then on ability their is no comparison. They have greater width and depth and a team that’s been bought, Bolton have a team drawn up from free transfers and loanees. To compete against Newcastle on Sunday and at St. James Park just goes to show what a good manager we have at the Reebok.

No disrespect to Bobby Robson, but his team of players, on paper, shouldn’t be happy with taking only one point from the available six. It makes you wonder what Sam Allardyce would do if he had the resources of Sir Bobby?
