Solano brushes off Barcelona rumours - 09/11/2003

Nobby Solano is convinced rumours of him moving to Barcelona in a swap deal for Patrick Kluivert will come to nothing, because Kluivert doesn't want to join Newcastle.

"I've listened to the rumours saying Barcelona want me but nobody has spoken to me about it," Solano told Peruvian radio programme 'Show del Veco'.

"I know there is talk that I would go to Barcelona as payment for the transfer of Kluivert but the problem is that he doesn't want to come.

"For that reason, I'm under no illusions. People talked about me going to Real Madrid and nothing happened."

And Solano insisted: "I have a good contract with Newcastle and I want to respect it.

"I don't have any problems with Sir Bobby Robson - we are on good speaking terms.

"All I want to do is demonstrate to him that I still have something to offer here."
