Defending the defence - 06/04/2002

I've heard the media, and a few fans, talk about our weak defence. I know that we've conceded a few goals, and some of them have been scrappy goals, but everyone has to appreciate that when a team defends, it involves all eleven players on the pitch - and not just the back four. If that's understood, then ask yourselves this question; are we an attacking or a defensive side?

So, I guess many of you would say that we prefer to attack. Anyhow, that's what I think! So, if that's the case, then you expect to score a few goals - but also leak a few. Isn't that exactly what's happened? We've scored 61 goals and only Arsenal and Man Utd can beat that, and only six teams have conceded less than us.

So if people complain about the defence, then they should also realise that any changes to way we play will affect the goals we score.
