Letís keep it going - 18/10/2002
The Premiership is our main focus, and the Champions League and international programme have provided a quite a few distractions. Come tomorrow weíll have to concentrate fully when we return to league action at Blackburn. Three wins our of three have taken us out of the bottom and now weíre well placed to push into the European qualifying area Ė and thatís with a home game against Bolton to come.
I know Iím always saying it, but there simply arenít any easy games at this level. Blackburn are a pretty good mid-table side and although they havenít picked up three points that often, from what Iíve seen of them, theyíve played better football than their position suggests. Theyíre at home so weíre expecting them to come at us a bit. I hear they have afew injuries with playerís such as Dunn, Duff, and Yorke, but they still have Thompson in midfield and Cole in attack with Jansen perhaps returning. They still have the ability to trouble any team. I think itíll be a good game, and Iím looking forward to putting on my boots after the week off. I think that my form is improving and so is that of the team as a whole. But itíll all be forgotten if we slip up at Ewood Park. Last season we beat them 2-1 at St. James and then played them away with an evening kick off before the Sky cameras with Al getting two goals in good 2-2 draw. We know what weíve up against so itís up to us to play our game.
Weíll then have a day off before focusing on the Juventus game. Weíve got something to prove in the Champions League, and it although weíre struggling it would be fantastic to turn it around against the Italian Champions. Itís a pity Bellerís is suspended, heís already beaten the national side this week and I bet heíd fancy himself to score a few against Juve.
