I'll sign for Swansea - 05/02/2004

Swansea City director of football Brian Flynn has told skysports.com that they have agreed a permanent deal with Manchester United defender Alan Tate. The Swans have been keen to land the tough-tackling centre back, who enjoyed two separate loan spells with the Third Division club in recent times.Flynn has been in talks with the 21-year-old over a permanent switch this week and Tate has agreed on a move to the South Wales club and will put pen-to-paper on a two-and-a-half year contract with The Swans. "He's signing with us this (Thursday) afternoon," Flynn told skysports.com. "I'm absolutely delighted. He's been with us twice on loan and he's shown his qualities with us. "It's a big boost for everyone."Tate will be joining a Swansea side that are five points adrift of the play-off places in Division Three. The arrival of Tate follows the club's decision to terminate the non-contract registration of fellow defender Earl Davis by mutual consent this week.
