Let's be positive

The 1-1 draw against Luton on Saturday was more than a little bit disappointing. We played well in the first half and during the second it was one-way traffic – although we just couldn't manage to get the ball in the back of the net. We all understand the frustrations of the fans, but it’s also frustrating for us. We know we should have done better, and we know that we’ve drawn too many of the games we should have won. We’ve dominated a few games without getting the end result, and becuase of this, we’re off the pace at the top of the table.

We play Bradford Park Avenue on Sunday, and again, we’ve the odds-on favourites. We’re looking forward to the game and a Cup run could be the making of the season. The FA Cup gets people going, and progression in the tournament means you’re winning games – a good habit to get into. To be honest, I’m sure the gaffer would swap some cup glory for promotion, but we’re not in a position to make a choice between the two. We can have a run in the cup and get promoted, or we can get knocked out early and finish in a disappointing mid-table position. It’s down to us - the players, but the fans can also play their part. In a game where confidence plays a big part, having the you behind us can make a definite difference. We’re a big club playing in a division we shouldn’t be in. Together we can put things right.

Just a word about the change from 4-4-2 to 3-5-2. I’ve been asked my opinion about the new formation and I have to say that I’m pleased with it – as are the rest of the lads! It means that the strikers aren’t so isolated and as a midfielder, it gives us scope to get further up the pitch. Let’s just hope we start to get a bit of luck – we’ll then turn those draws into wins and everyone will be happy!
