Charlton have now completed the £9 million 6,500 seated North Stand, this has increased the Valley's capacity to 26,500. Included within the design is a new ticket office and hospitality area. It adjoins the West Stand which was the first stand to be completed in the new look Valley.
Visiting supporters are situated in the South Stand, the usual allocation is 2,000; be aware that there are a couple of pillars which could if you are unlucky enough spoil your view of the game, however the stand is slightly raised above the ground.
Charlton left the Valley in the 1990's and ground shared with both West Ham and Crystal Place before returning to their original home. Although there was once talk of Charlton relocating their ground to the site of the Millennium Dome at the end of 2000 (40,000 all seater), this has been dismissed and the recent redevelopment of the North Stand evidences Charlton's long term plans remain at the Valley. It is expected that further work on the stadium capacity will raise to 30,000 in the next stage of the redevelopment.
