Best fans (other than own clubs) |
|
For passion it has to be the Newcastle fans. But it’s easy
following the big teams, but when we went down to Swansea in April
2004 we beat them 2-1 and they gave us a standing ovation as we left the
pitch. A few days after the game we received a letter from their fan club
wishing us all the best for the rest of the season and hoping that we'd
stay up. When it was read out to us, we just sat there and couldn't quite
believe it. They reminded us that football is as much about the fans as
it is about the players. It's not every day that players are lost for words,
but every player in that room will always remember the Swansea supporters
as being something special. |
