It's Barcelona again?! - 20/11/2003

It’s not so many months ago that I flew out with the Newcastle squad for the Champions League game at the Nou Camp. Tonight I’m playing for the reserves against Crook Town in the Barcelona Cup – it’s always good to lift some silverware, but everyone would prefer to be playing Barca in the Champions League!
I watched the Scottish game on Saturday, but I don’t think it was such a surprise that Holland beat them last night. Whereas the Jocks put up a great team performance, the quality of the Dutch players had to tell at some point. I also watched most of the England game, and although friendly games aren’t that important, it was good to see JJ coming on in the second half. I'm sorry for Speedo and Bellers that they won't be going to Portugal, last night's result was more than a bit disappointing after getting a decent draw in Russia. Bellers has time on his hands but it's interesting to see that Speedo's been linked with the Welsh managers job if Mark Hughes should leave - he'd do a good job as well!
I’m looking forward to Saturday morning, it’s been great watching the rugby over the last few weeks and with Jonny Wilkinson also doing the business, it’ll be great for an English side to win a World Cup.
