I watched the Liverpool game with my brother and we were both impressed with the performance of Nobby Solano. He’s never let the side down when he’s been introduced as a sub, and in taking over from Aaron on Saturday, he gave us something a bit different up front. Hughesy is a great defender – and his versatility is crucial to the side, but first and foremost he’s a defender and his strengths are suited to what happens in our half. Nobby is the opposite, he’s played at wing back on a few occasions – but it’s probably fair to say that if the gaffer was looking to keep a clean sheet, then Aaron or Griff would play at right back.

He was up against Emile Heskey and although Heskey towers above up, Nobby won a few headers against him!! Andy Gray was saying on SKY that Heskey would cause problems for us, but it simply didn’t happen.  Nobby tracked back well and if you look at the two decent second half chances Liverpool had, neither cam from the their left channel. As you’d expect, Nobby put in a number of decent crosses and his link play with Kieron has always been very good. It’ll certainly give the gaffer something to think about for the Tottenham game.

I’ve been away from the club over the last week or so due to an illness in the family, it’s a bit of a difficult time – especially at this time of year – but things are slowly improving and I hope that we’ll all be back to normal sooner rather than later.
