Pre-season update
A fantastic ground and a fantastic team!
   Jamie McClen

The trip to Holland wasnít a exactly a break in the sun with a few bottleís of San Miguel and factor 8. Not that thatís what we were expecting, but the standard of teams we played wasnít exactly testing. In fitness terms it served a purpose, the gaffer played the whole squad and I donít think anyone played much more than 45 minutes in any one game.

It didnít surprise me that the Forest game ended in defeat, at this stage of the season itís about fitness, then performance, and coming in a distant lastÖthe result. Saying that, the lads donít like losing and the win at Wolves went down well. The Barcelona game was a bit of an eye opener, I thought they played some class football. The way they knocked the ball about and took their chances was just fantastic Ė itís a level we hope to reach but on that showing we know thereís some way to go. Saying that, if we play them in the Champions League it would be a fresh start and anything could happen.

As for me, Iíve been carrying a groin injury since my return from Holland. I missed out on the reserve game at Workington, purely as a precaution, but now Iím fit and looking forward to getting back on the pitch. Weíve got Durham City at their place tonight, and then Iím probably feature next at home to Boro on the 21st. Iíll let you how it goes
